BuyVM Benchmarks (OpenVZ / San Jose) May 2012

Homepage: BuyVM

BuyVM is a reputable, “yearly” virtual private server hosting provider. My BuyVM review, as a customer for the past two years, is that BuyVM is an overwhelming good buy if you know what you are purchasing. If you shop with your $15, thinking you got a Minecraft server, it won’t work. If you install VPN software, your favorite IRC client and maybe Squid proxy server plus may an extra fee for their DDoS protection which is supposed to hold up to TCP SYN attacks, you’re a smart shopper who knows!

That’s right, a $15 per year VPS server with the option of adding IP filtering, for an additional monthly fee, to make it a DDoS protected VPS.

VPS.NET Benchmarks

Hello

I have a coupon for a nice chunk of VPS.NET credits and was wondering if anyone wanted a particular VPS.NET location benchmarked, from exotic locations such as Singapore or Tokyo, Japan to anywhere in Europe or the USA. I have about 3 months of month-to-month credits or I could do like 5 day mini reviews at each location, which I’m considering.

I’m going to do a very large VPS.NET review

If interested in my offer, leave a comment below.

Everybody Wants To Run A VPS Site

Honestly, all the scrapers and wannabes are pissing me off and this is a fair warning: if you scrape, repost, or anyway utilize our RSS feed to pull our content to put on YOUR site. You have been warned.

Five websites and five domains have been shutdown by their domain providers and hosting companies for engaging in this behavior.

Not only does this penalize my site for duplicate content, but the Vietnamese idiot who runs pbcrew.info is using trackback spam in an attempt to get people to view his site and get redirected to heavy amounts of ads. Since this is likely the idiot’s only source of income, his hosting company is waiting for his response and after they do not hear from him, I think his account is going to be suspended.

I have developed a few techniques to fight back against crawlers, scrapers, reposters, or whatever gimmick WordPress plugin YOU THINK you can run on me. I’ve been doing this for a hell of a lot longer than these kids who come in and think cash will just start flowing in with the theft of original content. Your account may be suspended from your hosting provider and depending on your country, you may be open for criminal prosecution for posting offensive content. Do I have your attention now?

I work hard to publish this stuff to have some guy overseas take advantage of my effort.

Again, FAIR WARNING.

Update: I’m Still Alive

Hey everybody!

I know it’s been awhile but VPS Benchmarks has not gone anywhere! We’re still around!

We’re about to roll out a huge project with tons of potential very soon. We’re aiming for within the next 10 days to have it live and online. Trust me, it’s going to be big and lots of people are going to be talking about it!

Intel Core2Quad CPU Q9550 Benchmarks

These are benchmarks from an Intel Core2Quad CPU Q9550 dedicated server to give you an idea of your VPS benchmarks. I rent this server from QuickPacket after finding a deal on the Core2Quad on WebHostingTalk. Just so you know, the server’s maximum RAM is 8gb because I requested 16gb but was told about the limit. I currently have a 500gb hard drive but I am upgrading to an additional 1TB hard drive.

I run Proxmox VE on it and installed Proxmox VE via Debian squeeze through the instructions on Proxmox’s wiki.
